09 Dec TOP VINTAGE FASHION SHOPS YORKSHIRE
Here at Arnett Vintage Co we love everything antique and vintage, including Vintage fashion. We love to discover new vintage stores, in particular vintage fashion shops, so we thought we would give you our guide to the ‘Top Vintage Fashions Shops In Yorkshire’. In this blog we cover four vintage stores that we personally love, and they’re all a little bit different to each other and we think that’s what makes them special.
POORBOY Vintage Clothing have a shop in Kingston upon Hull, along with a vintage garment website where you can purchase their vintage clothing online. They cater their vintage clothing to both Women and Men, and everything is really well categorised on their website so you can easily filter through the designs. Simply use their drop down menus, hover over Women/Men, and various vintage clothing options become available, such as Vintage Dresses, Vintage Skirts, Vintage Jackets and Coats. The category attributes along the left make for easy filtering so you can, for example, select the era 1960s, 1970s etc., and the relevant clothing lines pop up too.
It’s also worth looking at their ‘Remade Vintage Clothing‘ where they remaster Vintage items for re-sale. There are some really unique interesting Vintage fashion items in this category, we love it! And if big brand names are your thing, you can shop vintage brands on their website – They have Nike, Adidas, Barbour, K-Way and Tommy Hilfiger just to name a few!
We love their vintage shop and online store, and here’s a bit more info on them –
Store Address: Poorboy Boutique, No. 17 Humber Street, Fruit Market, Kingston upon Hull, HU1 1TH. Mon – Sat 10.30AM – 6PM and Sun 10.30AM-4.30PM. 01472 324004.
York Bowler Vintage have a store in Fossgate York, along with a online vintage fashion website where you can buy their vintage fashion items directly. The thing we love about their website is its really clean and simple, and they mix up the way they display their images. An example of this is how they display their vintage clothing items against transparent backgrounds, so this adds to the clean look and use of the site. They also tend to include vintage props, which are the kind of things we sell here at Arnett Vintage Co, so obviously we love the look of these! You don’t always have the opportunity to edit and crop images straight away when listing for websites, but to avoid products not having images they put them on props for a quick upload, which is a great idea!
Navigating through their site is really easy, we particularly love the accessories section on their website. Daniel (being a Yorkshire man about town!) particularly likes the Fedora hat and folding pocket beard comb. Their ‘Last Chance’ to purchase section really will spur you on to make that last minute section, and to be frank, a lot of their best vintage clothing lines are in here!
They have a fantastic blog on their website too, and you can tell they spend a lot of time on the stories on here. Daniel always gets stuck on gift shopping ideas for Sarah (don’t all men when shopping for their wives?!), and he commented on the inspiration he got from the ‘A Vintage Women’s Gift Guide‘ blog.
You can visit their two story vintage shop at- 52 Fossgate, York, YO1 9TF. 01904 630407.
Vintage Wholesale Company is based in Hull and they import all kinds of Vintage fashion from around the globe. They’re a Vintage wholesaler, who re-sell vintage clothing items in bulk. They have huge deliveries each week of fresh items, and you can go and hand pick your own times, taking what you want. There is a minimum spend of £300 (plus VAT) through the week, and £400 (plus VAT) on a weekend. You can also buy a power kilo of mixed grade A and B items (described on their website), and they assign a picker for you.
You can view all of their vintage clothing products on their website, simply select the category and the price range you desire. The clothing ranges are sold in various quantities, for example we browsed their Men’s ‘Jackets and Coats’ category, and saw how you could purchased various vintage jackets in 10x or even 100x quantities.
You can call them for enquires 01482 216862, or arrange to visit them at Unit 1, Sovereign Business Part, Bontoft Avenue, National Avenue, Hull, HU5 4HF.
Chinese Laundry have a shop in Hull and also York, and they add a little bit of something different to our list, as they have their own unique in house label which is called ‘Chinese Laundry’. They also do re-sale on up and coming vintage brands such as Pop Boutique and Warrior. They hand pick their vintage clothing stock from USA and Europe, and specialise in only reselling grade A items thought their clothes stores. They have a fantastic ‘Handmade in Yorkshire’ collection, which is hand stitched vintage clothing, made right here in Yorkshire.
They don’t sell items via their website, which isn’t an issue, as we think their stores are welcoming and very well laid out. You can also follow them through their various social media channels, in particular their Facebook page, which is regularly updated with their latest promotions and product ranges. Chinese laundry Hull and Chinese Laundry York have two separate Instagram accounts (we follow the York one @chineselaundry_york), where you can see new content pretty much daily (if not weekly), with modelsstyling their vintage clothing. Well worth a follow! Their branding is vintage retro, very colourful and screams quality.
You can visit their York store at- 51 Goodramgate, York YO1 7LS, Tel: 01904 658902
You can visit their Hull store at – Norwich House, Hull, HU1 3ES, Tel: 01482 618055
